Welcome to the Emma L. Wilson King Foundation (The Foundation) website. Please take a moment to review The Foundation links, programs, partners and our collaborative restoration plans for the Municipal Fountain at Hall-Jones Park in East St. Louis, Illinois. The restored fountain will be renamed the Emma L. Wilson King Memorial Fountain at Jones Park Lagoon.
The Memorial Fountain project is our way of honoring our mother and will continue the historical link past generations have enjoyed at the fountain which will be renewed today and extend into the future. Our mother instilled in her twelve children a strong sense of caring for community, education and the important value relationships formed plays throughout our lives.
As you browse The Foundation website, I would encourage you to review the history of the sixty-five year old fountain. The history of our hometown East St. Louis, from its rise as an industrial and railroad hub of America. Its urban decentralization and struggles in the latter half of the 20th century to steps in place today for progress and beyond.
The Foundation and the Memorial Fountain project reflects the warm spirit of volunteerism which has arisen in East St. Louis. This “spirit of volunteerism” is associated with the community, civic, educational and religious partnerships working to lay the groundwork for a clean, safe and fun environment in the “All American City” of East St. Louis.
Enjoy The Foundation website. Pass our website onto your family and friends as you become part of this special restoration effort.
